MyGriot Teacher Conduct & Classroom Policy
Updated: August 2025
Applies to all teachers and tutors on the MyGriot platform
- Professional Appearance: Teachers must wear appropriate attire (no tank tops, pajamas, or revealing clothing). Clothing should reflect respect for the learning environment.
- Camera & Background Setup: Live sessions must use clear video with clean, distraction-free backgrounds. Avoid teaching from beds or noisy public spaces.
- Language & Communication: All communication must be respectful, child-appropriate, and free of profanity, slang, or suggestive jokes.
- No Off-Platform Contact: Teachers are strictly prohibited from sharing or requesting phone numbers, emails, or social media handles from students or parents.
- Data Privacy: Do not collect, store, or share student personal data outside of the MyGriot platform.
- No Private Messaging: Teachers must not initiate private messaging with students unless approved by MyGriot or for scheduled learning communication within the platform.
- Teaching Materials: All materials must be original, royalty-free, or properly licensed. No pirated books, PDFs, or copyrighted content without permission.
- Content Guidelines: No content that promotes violence, religious bias, political agendas, sexual content, or hate speech is allowed.
- Mandatory Reporting: Any suspicion of abuse, neglect, or inappropriate behavior must be reported to the MyGriot admin team immediately.
- Student Safety First: Teachers must not allow students to turn on their camera unless absolutely required for the class (and only if platform and parents allow).
- No Gifts or Money Requests: Teachers must never ask students or parents for money, gifts, or personal favors.
- Session Recording Consent: If a class is recorded, teachers must inform students/parents in advance (this is typically handled by platform policy).
- Attendance and Punctuality: Repeated lateness or missed classes without proper notice may lead to account review or termination.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Teachers must show respect for different cultures, languages, and backgrounds. Avoid assumptions or stereotypes.
- Faith-Based Lessons: If teaching moral or spiritual topics, all lessons must be inclusive, respectful, and non-denominational — unless otherwise specified by the parent.
- No Political Advocacy: Teachers may not use MyGriot to promote any political candidates, causes, or ideologies.
- Platform Compliance: Teachers must not bypass platform systems (e.g., accepting outside payments, unauthorized tutoring, or third-party class links).
- Professional Tone: Sarcasm, yelling, and ridicule are not acceptable. All feedback should be constructive and encouraging.
- Classroom Control: Teachers must be able to manage the classroom respectfully. If a student is disruptive, report it using the internal notice system — do not confront them harshly.
- Acknowledgment: Teachers must read and accept these terms before teaching. Any violation may result in removal from the platform.
Optional: Add a checkbox at teacher registration:
“I have read and agree to abide by MyGriot’s Teacher Conduct & Classroom Policy.”
